Insulation standards
The EVS 860 standard series is helpful for companies involved in the field of insulation of technical installations – companies performing insulation work and preliminary work required for insulation, customers, designers, equipment and piping manufacturers, and suppliers of insulation materials. The standard series is also suitable for use in general construction, in both the private and public sectors.
The EVS 860 standard series is based on Finnish technical insulation standards. The series of standards for the thermal insulation of technical installations consists of different parts, which should be considered as a whole in order to better understand the requirements of the standards. At present, the standard series includes the following parts:
1) EVS 860:2020 “Thermal insulation of technical equipment – Insulation of pipes, tanks, and equipment. Execution of thermal insulation.” The standard contains the technical terms used in the standard series and details insulation methods for pipes and tanks. https://www.evs.ee/en/evs-860-2020
2) EVS 860-1:2020 “Thermal insulation of technical equipment – Insulation of pipes, tanks, and equipment. Part 1: Insulation materials and elements”. The standard deals with materials used for thermal insulation of technical installations. https://www.evs.ee/en/evs-860-1-2020
3) EVS 860-2:2015 “Thermal insulation of technical installations. Part 2: Piping, tanks, and equipment. Monitoring and measurement. The standard provides methods for monitoring and controlling the quality of thermal insulation work on pipelines, tanks, and equipment, both during and after work. https://www.evs.ee/en/evs-860-2-2015
4) EVS 860-3:2016 “Thermal insulation of technical installations. Part 3: Insulation for boilers, gas ducts, and electric filters. Performance of thermal insulation. The standard concerns the requirements for the installation and design of insulation for boilers, gas ducts, pipes, and electric filters. https://www.evs.ee/en/evs-860-3-2016
5) EVS 860-4:2016 “Thermal insulation of technical installations. Part 4: Piping, tanks, and equipment. Thermal insulation of measuring equipment”. The standard describes special requirements for thermal insulation of measuring instruments installed on pipelines, tanks, and equipment. https://www.evs.ee/en/evs-860-4-2016
6) EVS 860-5:2017 “Thermal insulation of technical installations. Part 5: Piping, tanks, and equipment. Dimensioning”. The standard deals with the dimensioning of the insulation of technical installations. https://www.evs.ee/en/evs-860-5-2017
7) EVS 860-6:2020 “Thermal insulation of technical installations. Part 6: Piping, tanks, and equipment. Cold insulation”. The standard refers to the cold insulation of technical installations. https://www.evs.ee/en/evs-860-6-2020
8) EVS 860-7:2018 ―Thermal insulation of technical installations. Part 7: Piping, tanks, and equipment. Materials for coverings and supporting structures”.
